The function of ignition system is to provide spark across the air gap of the spark plug to ignite the combustible air fuel mixture. For the engine to run, it must have good compression and be properly timed. The cylinder must receive a combustible air-fuel mixture. Then sparks have to be hot enough to ignite the air-fuel mixture. If any of these conditions is missing, the engine will not start or run.
